Meet Tyler Melvin, A New Lending Partner for Farmers, Ranchers, and Equine Operations

Welcoming Tyler Melvin: Continuing a Tradition of Service in Ocala's Agricultural Community

As we celebrate the retirement of Mona Colvin, we are pleased to introduce Tyler Melvin, who will be serving our Farm Credit of Florida members throughout the Ocala region moving forward.

For years, Mona has been a trusted partner to farmers, equine operations, ranchers, and rural property owners. Her dedication, expertise, and commitment to customer service have left a lasting impact on the customers and communities she has served. We are grateful for her contributions and wish her all the best in retirement.

As Mona begins this well-deserved next chapter, Tyler is excited to build upon those relationships and continue providing the personalized service Farm Credit of Florida members rely on.

Rooted in Rural Florida

Tyler's connection to agriculture began long before his banking career.

Raised in Citra, Florida, he grew up on his family's small Angus cattle operation. Like many who were raised in agriculture, Tyler spent weekends working cattle, maintaining the property, and learning the value of hard work from an early age. Those experiences helped shape his appreciation for agriculture and the dedication required to operate a farm or rural business successfully. 

Later, while attending school in Marion County, Tyler continued working around agricultural properties and acreage, helping with maintenance, mowing, irrigation projects, and other hands-on responsibilities. Those experiences provided a practical understanding of rural land ownership and the importance of stewardship, planning, and perseverance.

A Passion for Relationships

While agriculture provided his foundation, Tyler built his professional career in banking.

He brings more than 15 years of banking experience and eight years of commercial lending experience to Farm Credit of Florida. Throughout his career, he has worked closely with local business owners, landowners, contractors, and entrepreneurs across North Central Florida, helping them secure financing and achieve their goals.

For Tyler, lending has always been about more than transactions.

"People do business with people. My goal is to get to know each customer, understand their operation, and be a trusted resource they can count on. The relationships you build and the successes you help support are the most rewarding part of this profession."

That relationship-focused approach is one of the reasons Farm Credit of Florida stood out to him.

Tyler was drawn to Farm Credit of Florida's commitment to agriculture, rural communities, and local decision-making. He values the organization's cooperative structure, community-focused culture, and shared mission of supporting the people who help rural Florida thrive

As Tyler continues meeting customers throughout Marion County and the surrounding area, he is focused on learning about their operations, understanding their goals, and building long-term partnerships.

Whether it's a cattle operation, horse farm, agricultural business, or land purchase, Tyler believes every customer deserves personalized service and a lender who takes the time to listen.
